UNIT 2 -Video Vocabulary-

Matinée: a  showing ofa movie in the daytime ( usually in the afternoon. It is often cheaper.
Rating: system for evaluating how appropriate themovie is for various ages.
G. General Audience.
PG. Parenteral Guidance Suggested.
PG-13 Parents Strongly Cautioned.
R. Restricted
NC-17 Adults only.
Hit: popular and succesful.
Sequel: a movie that continues the story/theme of a previous film..
Bombed: failed.
It was on the edge of my seat the whole time!
The movie was very interesting and exciting. You were so involved that you sat on the front part of the seat to get closer to the action.
Special effects:  Done by computer; he range of normal photography or recording, as simulated fires or earthquakes, explosions, thunder and lightning, miniaturized or enlarged images, or other optical or electronic distortions.
Acting: performance of the actors and actresses.
Breathtaking: amazing, incredible.
Left something to be desired: not very good; you wish it was better.
Trailer: A 2-3 minute video summary of the movie.
Trilogy: A series of 3 movies (like Lord of the Rings). 
I have a hard time: I have difficulty.
Subtitles: the written words on the bottom of the screen.
Premise: the idea or concept.
Intriguint: interesting, gets your attention.
Plot: the main story of a piece of writing, as a novel or movie.
Hard to follow: difficult to understand or confusing as you were watching the movie.
Twist: unexpected turn of events.
Implausible: too unlikely, not probable, too difficult to believe.
Ruined it: made it bad.
Feel-good: makes you feel good!.
Touching: affected you emotionally in a positive way.
Hilarious: extremely funny.
Potty humor: gross, disgusting, involves sex or bodily functions.
Went a little overboard: there was too much.
To be honest: in my honest opinion.
Remake: a new version of an old movie.
Cast: all the actors and actresses who participated in the movie.
